TKM is our foundation programme and what we believe is one of the most effective, easy to learn and exciting self defence training styles in the world today. Originating in Israel, Krav Maga translates to “Contact Combat” and still today forms the basis of training for the Israeli Defence Force.

The TKM system is comprised of 10 practioner level units that can take up to two years to complete depending on a persons commitment to training. Each unit stands alone and does not need to be completed in order. The only rule we have is Unit 1 must be completed first and Unit 10 must be completed last. Instructors can make a decision not to permit someone to grade a unit if they do not believe they are ready or that their attendance has not been adequate.

Tactical Krav Maga works a variety of techniques including areas such as:

  • Defence against unarmed attacks, grabs, holds, takedowns, chokes etc
  • Defence against knife attacks and edged weapons
  • Defence against stick attacks and using a stick as a defensive weapon
  • Defence against firearm attacks
  • Defence against multiple attackers
  • Plus more.......
  • We run two different levels of classes in TKM. All new starters need to train in the TKM Core classes until they either complete their first four gradings or the instructor believes they are ready to go up to the open class. This can occur because of a persons prior training experience or because of their commitment level and ability.

Core classes do not involve weapons at all and aim to instill excellent base techniques that will then transpose into future training. Open classes introduce the use of weapons and defences against them and build on multiple attacker scenarios and third party protection techniques.

We hold gradings every 2 months and these will be based on topics covered during the quarter leading up to the grading. Students should aim to grade 1-2 units per grading and with regular training this will see all 10 units completed within 18mths. Gradings occur in both the core and open classes.

Grading fees will be $20 per unit being graded and this fee is due 1 week prior to grading. There must be at least 3 students in a grading for it to go ahead.
